Tight security arrangements to manage crowds and ensure safety

Ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations, major Indian cities such as Delhi and Nagpur rolled out extensive security and traffic management plans to ensure public safety and prevent law-and-order issues. Authorities deployed thousands of police personnel, established multi-layered checkpoints, and imposed vehicular movement restrictions in high-footfall areas.
In Delhi, special measures were implemented in sensitive and crowded zones like Connaught Place, popular markets, and entertainment hubs to avoid traffic congestion, drunken driving incidents, and NCR-related disturbances.

The New Year’s Eve security arrangements underline India’s evolving approach to urban safety, crowd control, and preventive law enforcement. As cities continue to host large public gatherings, strengthening smart policing, traffic planning, and inter-agency coordination will be critical for sustainable urban governance.
