Showcasing military might, cultural diversity and national unity

India marked its 77th Republic Day on 26 January with a grand ceremonial parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution in 1950. The celebrations highlighted the country’s democratic ethos, constitutional values and unity in diversity, drawing widespread participation from citizens and dignitaries alike.
The Republic Day parade showcased India’s military strength and preparedness, with marching contingents from the Army, Navy and Air Force, along with displays of advanced weapon systems, indigenous defence equipment and precision drills. The fly-past by the Indian Air Force, featuring fighter jets and transport aircraft, remained a major highlight, symbolising operational readiness and technological capability.

Cultural tableaux from various states and Union Territories depicted India’s rich heritage, traditions, social initiatives and developmental achievements. The tableaux reflected themes such as women empowerment, sustainable development, cultural diversity and national integration, offering a glimpse into the country’s pluralistic identity.
The ceremony also honoured Gallantry Awardees and distinguished service personnel, recognising acts of exceptional bravery, sacrifice and dedication in service of the nation. Their presence underscored the values of courage, discipline and selfless duty that underpin the Republic.
The event was attended by distinguished foreign dignitaries, including leaders from partner nations, reflecting India’s growing global engagement and diplomatic outreach. Their participation reinforced India’s commitment to international cooperation, peace and shared democratic values.
Tight security arrangements and extensive use of technology ensured smooth conduct of the celebrations, while millions of citizens across the country participated in parallel events, flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes.
The 77th Republic Day celebrations reaffirmed India’s faith in its Constitution and democratic institutions. By blending military prowess, cultural expression and constitutional spirit, the event served as a powerful reminder of India’s journey as a sovereign, inclusive and resilient republic.
