International engagement in mining innovation and sustainability

The 4th Odisha Mining and Infrastructure International Expo 2026 commenced on 8 January in Bhubaneswar, reaffirming Odisha’s growing stature as a global hub for mining, infrastructure development, and technological innovation. Organised at a time when the mining sector is undergoing a major transition towards sustainability and efficiency, the expo brings together policymakers, industry leaders, technology providers, start-ups, and international delegates on a common platform.
With the participation of over 250 exhibitors and more than 150 live technology demonstrations, the event highlights cutting-edge solutions across the mining and infrastructure value chain. Advanced mining equipment, digital technologies, automation, and eco-friendly extraction methods form the core focus areas. Delegations and companies from more than ten countries are taking part, underscoring the international dimension of the expo and Odisha’s relevance in the global mineral economy.

A key emphasis of the expo is sustainable mining practices, including responsible resource extraction, waste management, mine safety, and environmental restoration. Sessions and demonstrations showcase innovations aimed at reducing carbon footprints, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring compliance with global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. This aligns with India’s broader commitment to sustainable development and climate-resilient infrastructure.
The expo also serves as a significant platform for start-ups and entrepreneurs, facilitating networking opportunities with global investors, technology partners, and established industry players. By fostering collaboration between local innovators and international stakeholders, the event seeks to strengthen technology transfer, skill development, and capacity building in the sector.
Overall, the Odisha Mining and Infrastructure International Expo 2026 reflects the state’s strategic push to balance economic growth with sustainability. It reinforces India’s efforts to modernise the mining sector, enhance infrastructure capabilities, and deepen global trade and investment linkages in line with long-term development goals.
